In a private design competition staged by FINA (Federation Internationale de Natation) for the creation of medals to be presented at the 2013 Swimming World Championship in Barcelona, the participants were reduced to 5 shortlisted studios.

Young German designer, Sebastian Herkner certainly made his mark during the 2013 Milan Design Week with a varied collection of furniture and household items. The contrasting elements in terms of color, functionality and manufacturing methods shared a common element of quality and innovation as well as often uniquely inspirational themes.

Presented at the Salone del Mobile 2013 earlier this year was TOSHI, a versatile collection of cabinets designed by Luca Nichetto for Casamania. There are myriad references to Japan to be found within this collection which was inspired by the Tokyo skyline and in fact the name TOSHI means ‘city’ in the Japanese language!
