Faulkner architects has designed a family retreat for a hard-working AIDS researcher based in New York City. The home, which is immersed in the natural landscape of Truckee in California, intends to bring restorative calm upon its inhabitants, prioritising closeness with nature and leaving raw materials exposed.

At the southernmost point of the Norwegian coastline by the village of Båly, Snøhetta has designed Europe’s very first underwater restaurant. With its immediate proximity with the forces of nature, the restaurant, which will also function as a research center for marine life, is a tribute to the Norwegian coast and to Lindesnes.

Designed and built in 1869 by John James Clark as his private home, it was imperative to restore and refresh this magnificent home with gravitas. Removing an octagonal gazebo, the home is newly extended, while interiors are clarified and visually softened to position the age and significance of the home as paramount.

The 56 sqm Apartment is a minimalist apartment characterised by a narrow length with an open floor plan. The kitchen and storage are placed along a wall and feature custom built-in furniture in order to maximise space.
