A country house gets new life by the renovation of the interiors and the expansion of the living space designed in the extension made by glass and corten steel. The new volume talks with the natural landscape through the wide windows.

Recently renovated by Robson Rak, The Toorak2 House is an existing 1983 mock-Georgian home. The client entertained the idea of building a new home on the site, but decided to give the designers the challenge of inserting a new interior into the existing building.

FGR Architects virtually created an entirely new house behind the period facade. The contemporary ‘addition’ includes generous glazing at both the ground and first floors to take advantage of the garden aspect and generous light. Pivotal to the design is a lap pool and the double height canopy that soars to 6.5 m in height.

Located near Ulm, Germany, D10 is a single-storey one-family home built in an established residential area. A private driveway provides access to the house. Two parallel shear walls are a distinguishing feature of the building.

This house on the south coast of New South Wales was designed as one of a pair of modern beach houses, occupying a greenfield site overlooking beautiful Gerringong Beach. The form of the building is simple – a timber driftwood box with a crisp white roof floating overhead.

MLZD was asked to design the house for a couple – the same clients as for one of the Swiss architecture studio's first projects, back in 2000. They wanted a bigger house to accommodate their growing family.
The clients picked a spot on the south-east side of Lake Biel, also known as Lake Bienne, on the outskirts of rural village Ipsach.
