Sometimes the fact of building is just about erasing layers. This is the basis of the project for the refurbishment of the “Posito Pesquero”. How to rediscover the inner architecture has been hidden for years.

The Void is surely a strange choice of name for this community centre in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, South Korea. Designed by Hyunjoon Yoo Architects, this is their first project built on an island, where majority of the population is elderly

As if building a house isn’t already a design and logistical challenge, imagine having to build a second one on the same sloping site, but in a way that is unobtrusive whilst mainlining its own space and privacy.

Potafiori is a perfect example of the cool, unexpected layer that is slowly cloaking Milan with a number of hidden jewel destinations. Part flower shop, part cocktail bar and all day restaurant-cafe, the eclectic scene is governed over by Rosalba Piccini, a jazz singer and florist with bright red hair and a vivacious, winning personality.

Originally the Lara Boot Factory in Melbourne’s Fitzroy, Hargraves Street was converted into a home with a ground floor office by Ivan Rijavec in the late 1980s. Rijavec inserted graphic steel elements and plasterboard curves, which provided a wonderful basis for Fiona Lynch Design Office (FLDO) when transforming the warehouse into a home for a keen mountaineer and adventurer.
