The various hybrid offspring of the mega hotel groups continue to spring up in unexpected places. The freshly minted Roomers is the latest property from the Marriott’s diffusion line, the Autograph Collection Hotels. Styled as Baden-Baden’s ‘first luxury lifestyle hotel’, it benefits especially from a terrific, hilly address with views of the adjoining Black Forest.

Sum Of Us is not a gym where people show off their six-packs. Rather than that, it is a wellness centre dedicated to providing a sanctuary for enhanced wellbeing. Inspired by the concept of transformation and connection and designed by Melbourne-based We Are Huntly, The Sum of Us incorporates yoga, Pilates, treatment and a café.

Large tunnels carve through Tadao Ando's concrete and glass theatre in Shanghai, which has been documented in these new images by architecture photographer Yueqi Jazzy Li. The mountain retreat is a small structure set within a high country station occupying 1,300 hectares on the south facing shores of Lake Wakatipu, Central Otago. This region of New Zealand is also known as the Southern Lakes. It is an alpine environment formed by heavily glaciated schist mountainscapes and vegetated below the snow line with beech forest.
