Eileen Gray was fascinated by the beauty of traditional lacquerware. She learned the centuries-old craft from a Japanese artisan and then perfected her skills over the course of many years.

What is beautiful today is ugly tomorrow and what was ugly yesterday is beautiful today. I would say that what interests me more is charm, an actuality which contains both beauty and ugliness. Charm opens pathways, etches journeys, creates myths, reveals, or if you like, has time on its side.

For those who are not familiar, Salone Satellite is an exhibition space located in the Fiera del Moblie in which new and young designers get an opportunity to share their designs, and hopefully have them pick up by a producer.
