The Prada A/W 2013 Menswear collection was shown during Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week on a most original catwalk. The roles were reversed as the audience were seated on two islands of tiered wooden benches and the models paraded around on a perimeter catwalk with a decor of mini room settings.

Almost three decades after the emergence of the Frank Gehry Fish Lamps, they have been reinvented by the architect and artist who has created several new pieces for the two exhibitions which are running concurrently at the Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills and Paris.

These colourful hand-blown pendant globes are designed by young Swedish designer Johan Lindsten for the Italian interiors firm of Capellini. Inspired by the Fukushima nuclear disaster, Johan Lindsten has created the lamps as reference to the tragic event through the design of a beautiful object.

The year of 1939 in pre-war Europe, saw the final production year for the Rolls-Royce Phantom III, an automobile which, in its short lifetime, had achieved the status of the ultimate symbol of wealth available to just a small percentage of society.

The second range of products to be designed by New York based Brad Ascalon Studio for Design Within Reach, is the Atlas Table Collection. Inspired by the character of Greek Mythology, Atlas, whose fate it was to carry the weight of the heavens on his shoulders for all eternity, the collection is made up of coffee table and side tables.

Design is the process by which the physical world around us comes to be. It is a reflection of our needs, desires and indifference. If I can influence this in a positive way then I am happy. Design is my profession and my means of expression.
