The communication platform Interiors from Greece which promotes worldwide the Greek design and manufacture industry related to interior design and decoration (domestic furniture, professional equipment, lightning, materials, indoor/outdoor construction), has been all “dressed up” and is ready to take part in the largest –internationally- institution for furniture and design, iSaloni (April 9th-14th of 2013).

Envisioned by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, Canasta  is the name of the latest collection of outdoor furniture for B & B Italia. The name Canasta means ‘baskets’ in Spanish and the woven polyethylene fibre of which the furniture is made resembles the handcrafted basket-work of traditional ethnic cultures.

Designer Michiel Cornelissen was inspired by the icons of Russian folk art and more specifically by Matryoshka Dolls to create the  3D Mesh Matryoshkas for Dutch design publisher Soonsalon. 

A recent collaboration between the innovative design practice of Nendo and KOKUYO, a Japanese company which specializes in office furniture, resulted in the collection of modular furniture entitled ‘Brackets’.

Recently presented at the Maison & Objet design fair in Paris, Mangas Spaces is a collection of rugs and modular furniture designed by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola for GAN. The collection follows on from a previous collaboration between the designer and Gandia Blasco which resulted in Mangas Collection, a range of rugs in a similar style.

The prestigious international Bronze 'A’Design Award 2013' was recently won by  the Athens based design group of Urban Fiction for the design of their floor lamp, ‘Urbanoids’. From 2008, the members of the group, Giannis Siotis, Marilena Karagkiosi and Kanella Vlachou have been active in the design and creation of jewellery and other objects.

Visitors to the 2013 Art Fair ARCO in Madrid were welcomed by the Paper Chandeliers installation designed by Spanish architect Cristina Parreno in collaboration with MIT.
