Brooklyn-based Studio Tack has transformed a set of run-down structures into a cosy retreat, close to the rugged landscape of the Teton mountains and Yellowstone National Park. The Anvil Hotel's 49 rooms are split over a collection of one- and two-storey buildings, which were first built as a motel in the 1950s.

Concrete walls, cement floors, grey tiles, marble and dark stained wood meet in this Taipei apartment created by Wei Yi International Design Associates for "an elder with great fortune and rich experience".The Taipei- and Shanghai-based practice said the client wanted a home with "a delicate balance" and "tender atmosphere".

12-Micron, draws on the colours and tones of the spotted gum with an irresistible palette of dusky pink furniture, muted grey stone, blond timber tables, bark-like leathers and earthy tableware. The idea of the spotted gum’s rougher texture has also been introduced “through leathered finished granite as well as loose fit leather sofas and banquets with ruffled detailing.”
