The third branch of the successful Yakiniku Master Japanese restaurant was recently opened in Shanghai, China. The interior was designed by the Golucci International Design team, led by Lee Hsuhang. The design concept was the fusion of Japanese and South Chinese traditional architecture and culture.
A large comfortable space of 300 sq.m. provides seating for up to 130 diners. Clean exposed wooden framework and strong metal features are balanced to make up the open, uncluttered surroundings. Zen features such as random groupings of pebbles and contrasts of textures, a wall of Japanese barbecue coals against the white decorative features create an aesthetic customary in Asian design. The wall mural was inspired by the curving roof tiles seen in the architecture of South China and the crescent ceiling lights follow the simple shapes of Chinese boats.
This union of bicultural references in the design of this modern gastronomic destination provides a unique space for fine dining in an ambience of harmony.
