Studio Mills recently completed a family apartment in Westminster. As a second home for the family, the apartment combines mid-century modern with rich textures as a backdrop for the client’s collection of art, creating an apartment that is both luxurious and soft. The living area includes a bespoke marble wall-mounted sideboard, vintage Karl Springer lamp and an enlarged map feature wall, with the original located in the master bedroom. Velvet drapes and a cedar wood media wall emphasise the apartments high ceilings. Bespoke parquet floor runs throughout the apartment with large rugs and wall art as a connecting theme.
The master bedroom offers a formal, sophisticated retreat for the parents, simpler in palette, but enhanced with brass detailing in the bespoke furniture. The children’s bedroom is all about colour and vibrancy. With space limited it had to be multi-functional, with a foldaway wall desk and fun accessories. Studio Mills is a London based practice founded by twin sisters Jayne and Kirsty Mills. Both studied at Glasgow School of Art before specialising in architecture and interior design for commercial and residential projects. Started in early 2015, Studio Mills have worked internationally on retail and residential projects in New York and Europe, frequently teaming up with Anglo-Swedish watch brand Larsson and Jennings.
