The Prada A/W 2013 Menswear collection was shown during Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week on a most original catwalk. The roles were reversed as the audience were seated on two islands of tiered wooden benches and the models paraded around on a perimeter catwalk with a decor of mini room settings.

The concept was formulated by AMO, the research wing of Rem Koolhaas’ OMA, an architectural and design practice which has enjoyed a 10 year collaboration with Prada with reference to the set building for their fashion shows. This time was unique in that a 12 piece collection of angular furniture by OMA, designed for the American firm of Knoll, played a vital role in the Prada show.

On the actual catwalk, the OMA armchairs and coffee tables were arranged in room settings on colourful rugs and images of doors and windows, scenes of interiors and exteriors were projected on the walls presenting a very realistic impression of an ‘ideal house’. The entire 12 piece OMA for Knoll collection is set to be launched at the Salone del Mobile 2013 later this year.
