Young Australian fashion designer Sara Phillips launched her own womenswear label on her graduation from fashion school in 2007. Her classic collectables are attracting media attention from the glossies, as well as rapidly gaining popularity with women of all ages.
From conception to completion, her designs are produced in house, she works very closely with her mother, who is a prominent textile designer in Australia and it is her company where Sara’s signature prints are created.
She draws her inspiration from all aspects of the world around her, art and nature. The A/W 12 Collection is called ‘The Wanderer’ and is based on the lifestyle of an imaginary woman. In this case, the modern day nomad is reinterpreted as an international traveller and her needs for comfort and functionality, as found in the pockets, elasticity and drawstrings of the garments. The colours, textures and shapes of the Australian Outback, based on the photographs of Perth photographer, Richard Woldendorp, are incorporated into her prints. As with previous collections, there is an ageless philosophy incorporated into her designs.
