Young London based illustration artist, Sandra Jawad, creates striking portraits from pencil sketches influenced by editorial and fashion photography. Her subjects are in the main, models and celebrities shown in glamorous and sometimes provocative poses in the style of the 90s.
What makes a difference in her work is the level of emotion exhibited in her sketches, which are executed with great attention to detail, usually only seen in actual photographs. Her black and white series has been supplemented by others featuring clothes in vibrant colours in a variety of almost touchable pat terns and textures, faithfully reproduced by the advanced dry ink process which captures the complex shading within her pieces. The universal appeal of her illustrations has led to a growing number of fans for the work of Ms Jawad.
