Pietro Russo was trained in painting and ceramics, before he entered the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Florence, where he studied scenography. Understanding the design process as a research in existing scenic environments, he started exploration in the field of interior and product design.
From 1997 he continued his work in Berlin, in film set and interior design, while cooperating with several galleries exhibiting limited edition objects. He moved to Milan in 2001 where he began a long collaboration with the Lissoni Associati, working on product and interior design for companies as Alessi, Cappelini, Benetton, Kartell, Tecno Spa, Kerakoll design gallery.
In 2010 he set up his own practice focusing on interior and product design, characterized by his passion in scenery of interior architectural spaces and recovery of traditional crafts. Working on interior design, he creates unique objects that are in relation of the particular space and its story. Observing the process of artisans handcrafts, he recognizes the fine old expressions and translates them into his own language.
