Items from the original Nuage series of bookshelves and cabinets designed by the groundbreaking Charlotte Perriand, are fervently sought after by collectors of modern design and are to be seen in leading design collections globally.

In their role as sole holders of the production rights for Perriand’s designs, Cassina have reissued models from the Nuage range in their Cassina I Maestri collection, making these stunningly simplistic items attainable worldwide.

The modular bookcases and cabinets are as contemporary today as they were decades ago and are constructed mainly of aluminium frames with solid oak wooden shelves. Flexibility is a key characteristic of the pieces which may be assembled in a variety of ways according to the needs of the user. Height, length, free standing or hanging are all options as well as spacing of shelving to allow for different sizes and shapes of books and objects displayed. Black, white or primary shades are possible in several combinations.

Charlotte Perriand had always been fascinated by the design of cabinets and bookshelves and her ideas were clarified by her short residence in Japan in the early 1940s. She was one of the few women of her time in furniture design and is surely the person whose name is most associated with the post war modern design movement.
