The young New York based Korean artist, Yun-Woo Choi is becoming a force to contend with. His outstanding sculptural installations are taking the art world by storm! His choice of material for his impressive artwork consists of rolled up pages of magazines and newspapers which, together with wire and resin, he creates his ethereal forms with spiritual energy.
The sculptures appear to be emerging from a wall, suspended in mid-air or strewn across the floor or the exhibition rooms. Instilled with light and movement, the multiple dimensions of his work defy absolute definition. At first glance they appear to be simply complicated abstract shapes but like life itself, a story unfolds within these brilliant pieces.
The artist is inspired by his deep fascination with theoretical physics, multiple dimensions and ancient philosophy in addition to artists such as Anish Kapoor, with whom he shares the passion for the exploration of organic expression.
