Marina Bay Sands is a multi-use development project by Safdie Architects and is located in a prominent position by the prestigious marina in Singapore. The luxury fashion house of Louis Vuitton have taken over one of the ‘Crystal Pavilions’ of the innovative development, an independent duplex of angled glass panes on a steel foundation.

The interior design of the space, which will become the first ‘Island Maison’ for the fashion house, was a project of Peter Marino of FTL Design Engineering Studios. The initial challenge of the undertaking was to address the climatic problem. The tropical sun of Singapore is overhead for most of the daylight hours and would be detrimental to the luxury goods of LV. The solution came with the design for a series of linen blinds fitted from the highest point of the interior, which would give full UV protection without inhibiting the natural illumination of the space.

The expanses of white linen bring to mind the boat sails of the sailing boats in the marina and add a welcome nautical touch to this stunning waterside destination.
