To celebrate the opening of their collaboration with well known Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama, Louis Vuitton have made their presence felt in London’s Selfridges, where the familiar LV logo has been replaced by the signature Kusama polka dots.
The Selfridges Concept Store, a constantly changing store in store, has been totally taken over by the red and white dots which cover the entire store, walls, floors and rounded display tables and hanging lights, to showcase the limited edition of LV leather bags, travel bags, shoes and accessories. A trail of red dots on the floor leads to a polka dot model of Kusama herself!
Equally impressive are the 24 windows of the Oxford Street store, which are all decorated in the polka dot theme, including the clothes by Marc Jacobs. The joint venture between the luxury brand and the Japanese artist could be seen as a logical conclusion where a familiar repetitive logo is replaced by an equally recognisable repetitive theme.
