The French practice of Groupe LAPS is made up of six very talented individuals, experts in their respective fields of art, design and lighting. Their LED lighting installations consisting of little stick figures, either as free standing sculptures or choreographed to music to make them come to life and perform complicated dance routines, have become highly popular throughout the world.
Last November visitors the 2012 GLOW Festival held in Eindhoven had to opportunity to witness the escapades of these little illuminated androids when a multi storey building on a main road was adorned with the installation. As night fell, the figures scurried up and down the building, across the rooftops, along the balconies, even appearing to enter the rooms, presenting a slightly disconcerting appearance of intruders but thrilling to all who saw it. The stick figures are made of LED light tubes connected by flexible stainless steel joints which the designers disassemble and reassemble as part of a new fun public installation.
