This residence designed by Masahiko Sato was built on a sloping ground which faces the road along the Sasebo bay in Nagasaki and fronts the sea having a front road and bump. When you look the south side from there, you can see the blue sea and the blue sky. This house combines fantastic architecture with a breathtaking view and I am sure find it as interesting as I did. Below you will a find a description from Masahiko Sato concerning this beautiful project.

"When we look the south side from there, we can see the blue sea and the blue sky. I decided to use the concept of utilizing this wonderful environment for home space and harmonizing the house with it as much as possible on the plan of this residence.

We went on the plan of construction, considering the sloping ground in order to harmonize the house with the environment without changing shape of the site by a development construction.

Therefore, we thought of floor structure that the first floor was build by ferroconcrete and has been arranged on the sloping ground lower than a front road and the second floor and the third floor was build by construction methods for the conventional framework in order to show the residence stuck out the sea and sky.

We aimed to design the house simply and boldly in order to harmonize it with natural background by not making windows on the front and the side of the second floor and the third floor which can be seen from the road side and showing the house artistically in front of the blue sea and the blue sky.

Our main purpose was to build a house where eyes of people could be led by the blue sea and the blue sky and they could feel rich nature and get a feeling of freedom."
