Riccardo Tisci unveiled his Pre-Spring Men’s collection for 2014. This collection was a mix of flower power, camouflage, plaid, flames and even a guest appearance of Bambi. For the ones who have followed Tisci’s collections for Givenchy you can easily spot the strong references to his women’s’ show for Fall/Winter 2013, even the models’ hair were styled similar to the ones of his female models. For the less risky clientele of Givenchy though, sharply tailored looks were shown towards the end in classic designs.
Tisci who drew his inspiration from the Latin culture, a “Favela 74” patterned T-Shirt was such an example (1974 is Tisci’s birth year), said of his collection. “Men in favelas are more natural and more confident about their sexuality”. “They are not scared to mix and match clothing. They represent sensuality, street, and elegance—what I recognize as elegance. I love the fact that they play with opposite things like flowers (which represent peace and serenity) and camouflage (which represents the army), but all interpreted in a very colorful and positive way.”
