The 2012 Paris Motor Show witnessed the introduction of the first Jaguar sports car in this series for 50 years, the F-Type Jaguar. The familiar ‘coke-bottle shape’ of the legendary E-Type, a symbol of the 60s, is once again seen in the streamlined form of the F-Type.
Constructed of a lightweight aluminium, the elongated front and shorter back creates what Jaguar like to term as ‘an exciting balance’. The design of the grille and rear lights are based on their pre-existing sports models but exaggerated, keeping in line with the concept of the vehicle. Details such as the rear spoilers and door handles retract into the body so as not to interfere with the overall sleek appearance of the design.
The two seater interior is driver focused, common in a car of this calibre, it owes a great deal of its functional features to the world of aeronautics. Controls are grouped by function and important buttons are highlighted by their bronze detail. With paddles mounted on the steering wheel, gear changing converts to manual at will, a feature seen in Formula One cars. Powered by a new 3.0 litre V6 with the F-Type S model sporting a V8, this worthy successor to the E-Type is endowed with everything possible to thrill the sports car enthusiast through its stunning ergonomic design and top level performance.
