During the Paris Fashion Week which took place earlier this month, the Chanel S/S 2013 Pret-a-Porter collection was shown to an enthusiastic audience. The event was an extravagant affair staged in the Grand Palais to a background of wind turbines, a nod to the theme of the collection, ‘Renewable Energy.’

The popular classic shapes and fabrics of Chanel had indeed been renewed or reinterpreted by the exuberant Karl Lagerfeld. The tweed boucle suits were in pretty summer shades, boxy silhouettes with above the wrist voluminous sleeves, ultra feminine transparencies long and elegant, short and snappy or simply fun with feathery trims all had a vital role to play in the show. The bolero jacket was worn with skirts, dresses and long narrow pants in a matador style all in the familiar sophisticated black and white but interspersed with a variety of colors and patterns.

Accessories were oversized, the hula-hoop beach bag, huge faux pearls at the neck and wrist as well as stitched onto garments for a polka dot effect. Appliqued flowers and trims in denim and leather made this a ‘something for everyone’ affair! Skirts were long or short, pants wide or skinny, a diverse collection from the elegant House of Chanel.
