Los Angeles is the ideal location for Tribù’s first stand-alone showroom. With its reputation as the birthplace of indoor-outdoor living – courtesy of its year-round temperate weather – the city embodies the spirit of slow, graceful living that is a hallmark of the Tribù identity. Los Angeles is a culturally vibrant city, with a thriving architecture and design community and dynamic creative class that appreciates international style and design-forward product.
Belgian architect and interior designer Marc Merckx, who serves as Tribu’s Creative Director, created the design concepts and initial drawings, and channeled the influence of Mid Century design icons such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Richard Neutra. The showroom echoes Tribù’s timeless and discreet luxury ethos, with its neutral color palette, tactile and textured surfaces, and emphasis on natural materials, including Muschelkalk stone tiles, hand-applied stucco, oil rubbed bronze fixtures, and hemp ceiling coverings. The overall effect is one of refined craftsmanship that artfully melds European sensibilities with a distinctly Pacific Coast aesthetic.
The Tribù product range includes collections from some of the world’s finest designers. One such highlight is Italian product designer Monica Armani’s Ukiyo, a stunning teak collection inspired by the brushstrokes of classic Japanese calligraphy. Multidisciplinary designers George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg contributed the transitional teak styling of Amanu, as well as the versatile, modular Nodi. Also on view is the Senja Collection from Studio Segers, an award-winning Belgian architecture and product design team.
