This 120 sq.m. apartment in the coastal suburb of Palaio Faliro, was recently renovated by Athens based architects, Spacelab.
The interior was literally opened up by the demolition of the internal walls in the living, dining and kitchen areas. In their place, a fireplace and a semi-wall of storage units was constructed to facilitate the TV and other electronics and also do away with the need for any additional furniture, thereby maintaining a clear environment.
A kitchen island of dark grey is lifted by the whimsical yellow of the corian clad hood above it. The nearby dining area accommodates a Saarinen table and fake wicker Sawaya & Moroni chairs. A screen of scratched oak wood divides the area from the rest of the apartment. A similar wooden theme is used on the bedroom wardrobes.
The bathrooms have a vintage concept, with the black marble sink and brick shaped white tiles. The result of the design intervention is a comfortable apartment with an enviable view and an environment of uncluttered relaxation.
