The ready to wear Fall 2013 Collection of Victoria Beckham was recently shown in Manhattan on the top floor of the New York Public Library. A highly wearable collection of structured, well-tailored clothes infused with the expected level of urban sophistication.
The color palette of black, grey and camel dominated but with a welcome introduction of color in the form of bright blue and sunny primrose yellow. Colour blocking and fabric blocking featured in many of the garments, in particular the dresses with a looser line and longer length but a tightly belted waist. The oversized coats in blue/grey check with the bottom blocked in blue pony skin were especially popular. For evening she favored cropped pants or dark skirts worn with an elongated satin lapelled smoking jacket with divided, cape-like sleeves.
As to the accessories, box shaped colored bags carried in the characteristic way of Victoria herself, on the hip, and the new kitten heeled ankle boots with oversized turned down cuffs, produced by Manolo Blahnik. With every collection Victoria Beckham appears to be going from strength to strength and is rapidly gaining approval as an established fashion designer.
