How do you transform a grand historic house into a youthful contemporary family home without diminishing the grandeur of its architectural heritage? This was the challenge faced by Claire Driscoll Delmar, creative director of Australian interior design practice Studio CD, when she was approached by a young family who wanted to transform a five-bedroom Victorian-era Italianate mansion in Sydney into “an expressive city home” that reflected their passion for art, travel and fashion.

It's not just people that are social distancing. Brands are doing it too. McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Audi and Volkswagen are just a few of the corporate conglomerates that are interpreting "social distancing" with logo redesigns. The term has become popular recently because of the spread of the novel coronavirus. Social distancing means standing 6 feet apart from others in an effort to lower the risk of contracting the illness.

Italian architects Carlo Ratti and Italo Rota have designed an intensive-care pod within a shipping container that could be added to hospitals fighting the coronavirus pandemic. Named Connected Units for Respiratory Ailments – or CURA, which is the latin word for cure – the intensive care unit (ICU) pods have been designed to increase the country's intensive care capacity.

Cobalt-blue curtains hang in place of walls in a small apartment in Kyiv renovated by Ukrainian architecture and interiors studio Ater Architects. Called EGR Apartment, the 65-square-metre space was cramped, featuring a compartmentalised layout with separate rooms connected by corridors.

Having previously designed the notorious Chiltern Firehouse, Studio KO aimed to resurrect "the sensuality and glamour of the 1960s and 70s" in this Soho eatery, which features a menu inspired by the Mediterranean cuisine of southern Italy and France. Curves are everywhere, in the sumptuous leather banquettes, blue velvet armchairs and in a striking floor that combines colourful terrazzo with patterned carpet.
