Home fitness equipment usually looks as if it belongs in a torture chamber – chunky and heavy, it often leads a shadowy existence in the guest room or basement. That’s hardly surprising in view of the fact that most gym equipment is developed for use in professional fitness centres. The designers at LUNAR deliberately set out to change this state of affairs.
Accordingly, they have brought together the traditionally contrasting themes of fitness and stylish living in the form of new design objects that are as avantgarde as they are aesthetic.
Matthis Hamann, one of LUNAR Europe’s two managing partners, explains the concept: “Our goal was to create highly functional fitness equipment which, besides its sporting uses, will adorn any living room in the same way as an aesthetic sculpture. The objects thus combine ‘life’ and ‘style’ in the best possible sense.”
