Imagine a Christmas tree, unlike all others…a work of art! If you are in Paris right now, you simply cannot miss this fantastic event, an opportunity to enjoy the designs from a host of legendary names from the world of fashion, design, architecture, art and gastronomy all under one roof! The roof in question is the Hotel Salome de Rothschild and the designs are Christmas trees which the celebrities have created for the 18th annual Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs - (Designers Christmas Trees)!
This year’s theme is ‘an awakening of the senses’ and dozens of legendary names have consented to participate in this high end event including Jean Paul Gaultier who leads the way with his instantly recognizable glowing corset adorned fir! Famed pastry chef, Pierre Herme has contributed a deliciously edible concoction of his well-known macaroons and Algerian lingerie designer Zaha Dehar will present a vision decked in Venetian glass.
Past creations included a knitted tree from Stella McCartney, bondage attired gingerbread men from Dsquared2, an iconic suitcase with a penguin and a coil of lights, from who else but Louis Vuitton, and a glorious facsimile of a shimmering gown from Dior, just to mention a few!
The exhibition will be held at the Hotel Salome de Rothschild through 8th December when the trees will be auctioned at a gala ball and all proceeds will go to charity. Call it what you will, the designs and the concept is at once charitable, glamorous, just a little outrageous and elitist! When the celebrities from the world of art and design are given a free hand to express themselves that is certainly what they do, and we at Delood just can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
