After its introduction at the Manchester International Festival in 2011, Biophilia, a series of albums by the unconventional Icelandic entertainer Bjork, was incorporated into a unique event entitled the Biophilia Education Program. This avant-garde event is to become part of the big Family Day held annually at the MOCA - Museum of Contemporary Art, an institution which is famed for its forward thinking philosophy on arts education.
This inspirational program, suitable for children of all abilities from the ages of 9 to 14 years of age, is an exciting form of introducing them to music through nature, science and technology. The Biophilia suite of music which encompasses apps, installations and live events, also allows the children to interact with a set of handmade instruments and listen to a 24 voice Icelandic choir! So popular has this program proved to be that it has been included in the school curriculum in Reykjavik, Iceland for the next three years!
The Biophilia Education Program will take place on June 2nd, 2013 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and will be followed by live performances of the Biophilia concert at the Hollywood Palladium on June 2th, 5th and 8th, 2013.
