In the heart of San Francisco, the interior of this former 2 bedroom apartment has been redesigned to create a spacious studio residence by Michael Garcia and Farid Tamjidi of Garcia-Tamjidi architects. The clients, a couple with the fast paced hobby of motorcycle racing, required a  tranquil space in which to unwind at the end of the day.

The flat was stripped down to the structural minimum and  a storage area was created using the remaining central wall. Retractable fabric blinds are optional when more privacy is needed, to create smaller spaces. Light reflecting surfaces abound in this sanctuary, which resembles an art gallery rather than a home. This is further emphasised by the Ducati Sport Classic motorcycle which is the eye catching exhibit in the living space, together with works of art displayed throughout the semi-bare open-plan space.
