LA House is a redesign project of an existing duplex in the city of Londrina, Brazil by Studio Guilherme Torres. From the street side approach to the structure, an enormous teak box placed on the base of the duplex creates an intriguing first impression of what lies beyond the walled garden.

Access to the property is through a side gate and leads to a pool and deck area before revealing the spectacular pivoting glass windows of the living space. In line with the architect’s concept which is - break the paradigm, high ceilings and the minimum of interior walls are the key to this project, unlike the average duplex in Brazil.  Oversized seating defines the space as a place of comfort and relaxation. An elegant open plan kitchen/dining area with customized furniture and bright yellow counter space perfectly merges with the seating area.

Lots of fun elements are incorporated into the decor of the home, the retro space invader figures on the white wall, colorful soft furnishings and toys coexist with a few well-chosen classics of modern furniture designers.  The private areas and office space are on the upper level in this young, vibrant contemporary design for an urban dwelling with more than a touch of luxury.
