A recent project of the Danish practice of STUDIO David Thulstrup is BLOW, a fast track hairstyling salon in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. The tiny 38 sq.m. space has been transformed into a contemporary interpretation of the Hollywood glamour of the 1950s.
The concept is a sanctuary, a place of calm where a woman can become a star for 20 minutes of pampering. The mirrors which line the walls are hand-made by the studio creating a soft dreamy effect, flattering all who seek perfection. Layers of white and transparent lacquer were blown to produce a flowing organic form within the reflective surface. The counter and tables are custom made of elegant yellow Sienna marble, becoming the signature color for the interior and echoed in the stained wood of the surfaces.
Two free standing mirrors with circles of bright bulbs stand by the Egon Eiermann styling chairs, accentuating a theatrical effect of a backstage dressing room. A sophisticated yet warm ambience comes through the minimal design aesthetic by the multi-talented practice of David Thulstrup.
