The As Good As New recycled furniture brand was launched four years ago by Gummo Advertising, i29 Architects and Krimpex Coating Systems. Their latest venture is a Pop-up shop of the idiosyncratic brand which is set up as a room installation in SPRMRKT in Amsterdam. The owner of the store, Nelleke Strijkers is delighted with the arrangement as she feels it perfectly suits the clothes displayed in her shop.
The vintage furniture line is produced from second hand recycled furniture which is then sprayed with a liquid plastic coating to produce a uniform matt grey colour. Anything at all from a conventional Chesterfield sofa to a wall mounted hunting trophy can be treated in this way.The transformation is striking, sculptural and even surreal. Instant change of identity for outdated products which become cool desirable objects, colour co-ordinated and ready for resale at the store or on their website.
