Oscar Metsavaht deconstructs the shape of clothes and redefines the term of elegance with his own unique signature. The truth is that he established Osklen in Brazil in the 80’s when there were no warm comfortable clothes for the devotees of winter sports and adventure. From that day on, the progress of Osklen has reached heights unimaginable in the competitive fashion market.
In his last show, during fashion week in Rio, his inspiration was the mythical bird, the Pheonix. The title of his collection, Osklen on Fire, was in reality a message to women to burn their wardrobes and your conception of beauty. He suggests replacing it with new shapes and a sense of comfort not based on the established criteria of accepted design.
Organic forms in cashmere and stretch wool, block colors in almost ‘edible’ tones of tomato red, Indian curry yellow and deep ocean blue with dramatic details such as the huge necklines which practically swallow the models’ heads, suggesting a mood of warmth and a hint at symbolic cocooning and a return to comfort.
In contrast to his audacious collection but as a connecting catalyst is the neutral grey which perfectly balances the boldness of the other colors.
