Maria Nordstrom Fall Winter 2012 is a collection that blends couture with exclusive everyday wear. Recurring materials are hand-dyed silk, leather, silk jersey, feathers and wool. Other materials used in the collection are chiffon, refined sequince, sea shell and cashmere.
The collection is complemented with accessories such as leather harnesks, silver jewellery and suede gloves. This collection features classic couture dressmaking with roots in the contemporary urban fashion.
The collection has influences from catholic ambivalence where the catwalk is our purgatory. The pieces express the contrast between the rebellious avant-garde and commercialism, between a feminine, sculptural line and an aggressive armor. The juxtapose raw vanity with a desire for the regular, a buttoned up collar and a wide open back.
