The Lanvin 2012 Resort collection by Alber Elbarz and modelled by Daphne Groenveld and Kristina Salinovic was received with enthusiasm, not only due to the excellence of the designs but also by the humorous presentation of Alber Elbarz as he recounted his thought processes behind the collection. He culminated his introduction by stating that he wanted the collection to be ‘more of a dialogue than a monologue.’
The myriad of females who formed the inspiration of the designer resulted in a collection of effortlessly elegant garments from swimwear to chic evening gowns in subdued shades of neutral and white and flattering loose fitting pieces made of soft silks in muted tones. A reference to iconic designer Madame Gres, whose impossibly intricate micro-plisse was substituted by a stunning evening gown in a toga style of softly folded and draped fabric secured on one shoulder. Exotic trims, shoulder pads and endless variations of glamorous costume jewelry was used throughout.
The show closed with the debut of the 2012 Lanvin Children’s Collection.
