Elena Kougianou is an incredibly gifted Greek jewelry designer whose creations hide a magical combination of dark romanticism and theatricality. Being a citizen of the world, she has been greatly inspired by the mesmerizing colors and unique nature of the stones that she has come across during her extensive traveling. More specifically, it was her trip to India that inspired her to create her first collection; one of exotic feel, consisting of amethysts and chrysoprase ornamental stones, feathers and metallic laces. Each piece unravels a fascinating story of its own, through its eclectic touches and intricate details.
With lace being the centerstage of her designs, the collection is all handmade, in gold plated or oxidized metal. Elena has brilliantly found a way to add various surprise elements to her creations by continually mixing or isolating the initial motifs of the lace, this way, giving them each time a different and unique form.
After expanding in Milan and also taking part in the Athens Exclusive Designer week in Celia D’s S/S12 collection, she is now preparing her winter collection of handmade platinum plated jewelry with sapphire, brilliant and emerald touches. Double-fingered rings, feather earrings, edgy bracelet cuffs are just a taste of what is to come.
