Japanese designers Studio Nendo, led by Oki Sato, in association with well known Czech glass makers, Lasvit, produced the exquisite collection ‘Still and
Sparkling” which was recently shown at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
This is Nendo’s first venture into the world of glass design. Sato had always been fascinated by the immeasurable possibilities of glass blowing, as no item is
ever identical in hand-blown glass as the final result greatly depends on the strength of the artisan during the process of inhaling or exhaling directly into
a bubble of molten glass.
The delicate fluidity of organic form is visible in the pieces, some elegantly simple and others seemingly complicated shapes within shapes. Accompanying the
items are several sketches showing the various stages of the glass blowing process undertaken to produce these delightful articles.
