Young Cuban artist Yoan Capote, who lives and works in Havana, first came to notice in Havana’s Biennale in 2001, through his thought-provoking and unusual works of art.
His creations consist of sculptures and stimulating drawings portraying a series of paradoxical images, through which he conveys his own political and psychological messages, with his own personal touch of humor. The creative synthesis of his designs is based on integrating the human form with inanimate objects, this way reinventing the human body and exploring the different purposes of everyday things.
Joan Capote’s art challenges its audience, changes direction and investigates the use of tangible objects and their connection to the human nature, allowing us to take a step back and absorb his overtones.
