The young Hamburg based Turkish artist Sakir Gokcebag is well known for his eccentric choices of art materials. In the past he has elected to create his installations from random household items to fresh fruit and vegetables. For his latest collection, his medium is equally controversial as he uses toilet rolls.
Trans-Layer 1, 11, and 111 is a collection of wall mounted and freestanding installations created from hundreds of the humble yet essential household product. His gift for discovering the hidden beauty of any object is apparent in the draping of his exquisitely flowing designs, which adopt the flexibility of the finest silk through his talented eye for composition.
He begins every collection by observing the form and function as well as the potential of an object before he finds its inherent ‘poetry’ which inspires him to create his incredible artworks.
