The Pallet Project is an interior design project for the conversion of a Dutch canal house in Brouwergracht, Amsterdam into temporary office space for BrandBase advertising agency. It was undertaken by Most Architecture between May 2010 and July 2010. The client specifically wished for materials used to be recyclable and so creative director Marvin Pupping of Most chose shipping pallets as the main media.
A total of 270 pallets were used to create structures and furnishings on floor space covering an area of 245sq.m. An informal atmosphere has been achieved with an open plan office space leading to the rear of the premises where stairs lead to a split level area where the more formal aspects of an advertising agency are present in the form of a boardroom and presentation area. The fitting of translucent walls and doors facilitate the transformation into an area where meetings with clients can take place in privacy.
The final touches were the addition of black light fittings, staircase handrails and items of furniture to bring together this innovative design plan.
