Situated in Podgorica, Montenegro and designed by Elastic Architects, this full floor penthouse combines residential areas with office spaces, connecting the two functions seamlessly with hidden routes. The scale of the main space is amplified by strategically chosen materials, textures and furniture. The entrance and living areas are joined together by a solid oak floor that continues vertically on the wall, folds to the ceiling embracing the pivot door and guiding the visitor to the main route of the house. Access to support spaces is via vertically placed timber panels, highlighted by luminescent joints. On the other side of the space, a parallel route, dictated by the white local, traditional stone, guides the user to the office area, without having to transverse the reception area.
This white stone is the canvas for the sequence of bicolor curtains. The white linen romans visually protect the user to his way to the office, situated behind a hidden door. In the main living area, the sunken white ceiling crowns the silver columns, consolidating the unobstructed space, allowing a sense of splendour. The main living area comes in contrast with the gentle and introvert nature of the couple’s private quarters.
In the master bedroom, a platform is utilized to exhibit the bed which afterwards transforms into a free-standing capsule, enclosing the en-suite shower and wc and at the same time ensuring the privacy of the displayed wet areas. The materials, textures and furniture, combined with the manipulation of natural and artificial light, create a sense of tranquility and grandeur.
