Courtney Love was photographed at her NYC townhouse in garments she hand-picked from Slimane’s men and women’s pre-Fall and Fall 2013 collections for Saint Laurent. Kim Gordon who was shot at Saint Laurent’s NYC studio half wears Le Smoking and styles it with Hedi’s own scarf around her neck, whereas Manson and Ariel Pink got snapped in the Saint Laurent L01 signature motorcycle jacket.
Legendary Yves Saint Laurent’s close rock connections were the inspiration behind Slimane’s Music Project. It was in 1971 when those connections firstly established when Mick and Bianca Jagger were both dressed in white YSL tailored outfits for their Saint Tropez wedding.
Music Project is about having the rock stars create an image of their own expression. The conclusion is that they do so and they do it well and this is the ultimate distinction between rocks stars and someone who is simply in a band.
