A collaboration between young Chinese fashion designer Qiu Hao and Shanghai based French photographer Matthieu Belin has produced a series of of hauntingly beautiful images of Xao’s Fall Winter 2011 collection.
The concept of the collection, entitled “Serpens”, is dedicated to the constellation of the same name, and is a homage to the reptile and all that it represents. Mystery, fear and fascination with the creature with its elegant form and exquisite texture are seen within the designs and the images depicting them, as the slinky sculptured black and white pieces with strangely compelling fur cuffs, are displayed on the snake like poses of the models.
This avant-garde designer is one of the new generation of Chinese fashion design who has an innovative approach to the aesthetics of fashion and states, ‘don’t ask me about inspiration, image is a simple way of saying complicated things.’
