More and more artists are using computer technology as an alternative medium with which to produce their work. Such is the case with Catherine Nelson, an Australian artist who is no stranger to the latest computer aids, thanks to her experience in producing special effects for several box office hits. Her series of stunning photographs, ‘Future Memories’ is an vision of the beauty of nature as seen through the expert eye of this talented artist.

Each of the 20 pieces of the series represents a spectacular location in Australia and Europe, which she presents in the form of a globe floating in the Universe. Every world is an independent planet, self-sustaining within its own microcosm without assistance from external sources. In this way, the artist emphasizes the strengths and weaknesses of our world and our interdependence with nature and our environment.

The artist has created these works by taking hundreds of photographs of the same location and then using a computer editing program, they are painstakingly assembled in the form of a traditional collage. No digital enhancement is employed during the process of producing these mesmerizing pieces, simply photography plus a great deal of skill.
