Located in the archives of Zaha Hadid’s Pierres Vives government building in Montpellier, France, the Alphabet Library was designed by Stephane Hof of Hoffice 2012. What is immediately apparent on entering the space is the theme of continuity. The tables are created from a literal extension of the Corian bookshelves, creating a balanced feel to a room conducive to reading and relaxation.
The letters of the alphabet can be discerned as abstract shapes in the minimalist design of the furniture. At night, the cohesion of the space is enhanced by the backlit edges of the corian material so that the ceiling, shelving and tables appear as one in this unique space, a library where reading is a pleasure!
