A-Cero has struck again, with a 1700m2 magnificent demonstration of spatial complexity and stark stylized forms, situated in the heart of Pozuelo de Alarcon, Spain. Remaining faithful to their notion that art and architecture go hand in hand, they have brilliantly created a spectacular architectural sculpture.
Their main objective was to keep their trademark volumes and find a way to marry cubic forms with curves. The building seems to emerge from the earth like a natural formation and the facades are treated with a textured dark concrete, completing the mineral analogy. Horizontal lines dominate on the volumes, which are all laid in layers.
Lines, both inside and outside the house, appear to match harmoniously and contribute to its sculptural form. The ground floor, where the main living areas are located, has been placed underneath a curved canopy that adds a great deal of space, from which the rest of the house spreads out. The basement is dedicated to leisure and sports, whereas the second floor houses a painting studio in a long, curved deck. A 400m2 pool, with a ‘disappearing edge’ feature, enhances the Japanese - inspired landscaping.
