The design intervention on the 2nd floor apartment of this highly regarded 1930s Dukic building in the centre of Ljublijana, was executed by SADAR+VUGA design studio.

A new ultra modern identity was created in the 130 sq.m. apartment, which is in sharp contrast with the retro exterior of the building. The open plan living area,  practically devoid of colour, has glossy surfaces and light reflecting panels of mirrors and steel sheets which conceal the functional aspects of the living space.

The design theme of duality may be seen in the contrast of the day and evening mood of the apartment when the lowered ceilings and plexiglass lighting make for an intimate ambience. The classic furniture, Chesterfield sofas, a velvet sofa, Thonet + Nelson Pretzel chairs and a solid oak wood table, contrast with the materials used in the construction of the interior, and provide a variety of textures to enhance the aesthetics of this very habitable living space.
